PMI conducts Project Management salary survey from time to time. It is a worldwide survey about the salaries of professionals working in the area of project management. The latest available survey was done in 2018. It was released as Project Management Salary Survey 10th edition. Survey had 33,000 Project Management Professionals responses from 37 different countries. PMI Project Management Salary Survey 11th edition is currently underway.

PMI Project Management Salaries by country – at exchange rate
According to this report the 10th PMI Project Management Salary survey, the top 5 countries, where Project Management Professionals reported the Highest salaries (Median salary) are below – Local currency is converted to United States Dollar (USD) based on currency exchange rate.
- Switzerland – 130,000 Swiss Francs = 130,966 USD
- United States – 112,000 USD
- Australia – 142,000 AUD = 108,593 USD
- Germany – 82,000 EUR = 88,449 USD
- Netherlands – 80,000 = 86,292 USD
At the same time, the bottom 5 countries where Project Management Professionals reported the least salaries (Median salary) are below – Local currency is converted to United States Dollar (USD) based on currency exchange rate.
- Malaysia – 133,000 MYR = 30,015 USD
- China – 200,000 CNY = 29,040 USD
- India – 1,700,000 INR = 25,959 USD

Example from the project management salaries listed above
The annualized median salary of Project Management Professional in India is 1,700,000 INR.
Purchasing power Parity rate of 1,700,000 INR with respect to USD = 96,045 USD. (this is calculated based on The latest available PPP values of 2017 from OECD.)
It means the Purchasing power of 1,700,000 INR is equal to the purchasing power of 96,045 USD, i.e.. In United States, 96,045 USD will allow you to buy the same things you’d buy with 1,700,000 INR in India.
But the value of 1,700,000 INR calculated in terms of exchange rate is 25,959 USD, which is much less than the purchasing power of 96,045 USD.
Another Example:
The annualized median salary of Project Management Professional in Australia is 142,000 AUD.
Purchasing power Parity rate of 142,000 AUD with respect to USD = 101,428 USD
It means the Purchasing power of 142,000 AUD is equal to the purchasing power of 101,428 USD, i.e.. In United States, 101,428 USD will allow you to buy the same things you’d buy with 142,000 AUD in Australia.
