PMP Exam Current Version (valid till 31 December 2020)

Duration of the exam – 4 hours

Total number of Questions – 200

Unscored or Pretest questions – 25/200. Therefore, effectively you are tested on 175 questions.

NO Negative Marking or Penalty for wrong answers.

Questions are asked from the 5 project management domains

1. Initiating
2. Planning
3. Executing
4. Monitoring & Controlling
5. Closing

PMP Exam New Version (effective from 2nd January 2021) 

Duration of the exam – 230 Minutes (3 hours 50 Minutes)

Total number of Questions – 180

There are NO Unscored or Pretest questions, So Candidates are tested on all 180 questions.

NO Negative Marking or Penalty for wrong answers.

One additional break for a total of two 10 minute breaks.

Questions will be a combination of multiple-choice, multiple responses, matching, hotspot and limited fill-in-the-blank.

Questions are asked from 3 Domains

1. PEOPLE – emphasizing the skills and activities associated with effectively leading a project team.
2. PROCESS – reinforcing the technical aspects of managing a project.
3. BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT – highlighting the connection between projects and organization strategy

PMP Exam Topic Weightage (New Version Valid from 2nd January 2021)

There are NO UNSCORED (Pretest) questions in the New Version of the PMP Exam, and all the 180 questions are scored. Further, About half of the examination will represent predictive project management approaches and the other half will represent agile or hybrid approaches. Predictive, agile, and hybrid approaches will be found throughout the three-domain areas listed above and are not isolated to any particular domain or task.
